Sony PlayStation 2 (Often shortened to PS2) is Sony’s second entry into the console market and marked their dominance in the gaming arena. The console can be orientated in both vertical and horizontal positions, with a timeless design that fits into any TV setup.
Media & Compatibility
The PlayStation 2 can play standard size PAL PS2 Games, DVD’s & CD’s. The PlayStation 2 is also backwards compatible, meaning you can play the PAL PlayStation 1 library of games too! The Sony PlayStation 2 also uses proprietary memory cards for saving game progress (memory cards sold separately).
Size & Dimensions
The original PlayStation 2, also known as the PS2 Fat, is 11.9 in x 7.2 in x 3.1 in (302.3 mm x 182.9 mm x 78.7 mm) and weighs 2.2 kg.
Controllers
The PS2 supports 2 controllers out of the box and supports DualShock 2 controllers. Some games also support up to 8 players, with the use of a 4 way “multitap” (sold separately). The PS2 also supports older controllers from the original PlayStation. This console comes with one Official Sony DualShock 2 controller.
TV Connection
Sony PlayStation 2 connects to TV’s via an AV lead (Red, Yellow and White). Some modern TV’s no longer support this connection.
