The iconic original PlayStation (Often referred to as the PS1 or the PSX) was Sony’s breakthrough into the console market. Dubbed the generation that introduced true 3D gaming, the PlayStation library includes some timeless classics such as Spyro the Dragon, Crash Bandicoot and many more. With its grey boxy design, the original PlayStation was a bold new statement to the gaming world.
Compatibility
This console can play all PAL PlayStation 1 games. This console can also play CD audio discs.
Media
The disc drive in this PlayStation can play standard size PAL PS1 Games, CD’s and Mini CD’s. The Sony PlayStation also uses proprietary memory cards for saving game progress.
Size
The original PlayStation (PSX) console is 2.5 inches tall, 7.5 inches wide, and weighs 3.2 pounds.
Controllers
The PlayStation supports two controllers out of the box. This version comes with a DualShock controller featuring analogue sticks and force feedback (vibration) for a more immersive gaming experience. Some games also support up to 8 players using a 4-way “multitap” (sold separately).

TV Connection
Sony PlayStation connects to TV’s via an analogue RF lead, with the TV tuned to channel 36. This is the same connection as standard aerial TV. Some modern TV’s no longer support this connection.
