Terms and Conditions

1. General Information and Scope

  • 1.1 The Console Cove Ltd (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is an online store trading via theconsolecove.co.uk and select third-party platforms. Registered address 130 Saxon Gardens, Shoeburyness, Essex, SS39PX. By using our website and services you agree to comply with and be bound by the following terms and conditions. 
  • 1.2 We reserve the right to modify these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice.
  • 1.3 These terms and conditions do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law.
  • 1.4 Force Majeure: We are not liable for any default due to any Act of God, war, strike, lockout, industrial action, fire, flood, drought, storm or other event beyond the reasonable control of The Console Cove.
  • 1.5 While transacting with The Console Cove, you agree to be bound by the laws of England and Wales.

2. Product Conditions

  • 2.1 Our products are usually PAL UK/EU releases, unless stated otherwise. Please see individual listings for full details.
  • 2.2 All Products are used (second hand), unless specifically stated on the listing. 
  • 2.3 Product descriptions & images are for display purposes only & do not represent the actual product. 
  • 2.4 Console Conditions:
    • 2.2.6 Pre-owned consoles may exhibit minor imperfections, such as scratches, dinks, chips, or fading.
    • 2.4.2 Discounted/cosmetically flawed consoles may show greater wear and tear, including heavier scratches, dents, chips, or colour fading. 
    • 2.4.3 Discounted consoles may be sold with third party or different coloured controllers when official stock is limited.
    • 2.4.4 Boxed consoles may lack inserts, inlays, or manuals. Boxed consoles may not have matching serial or model numbers.
    • 2.4.5 Used condition consoles may have undergone repairs or refurbishment. 
    • 2.4.6 Refurbished consoles may have third party replacement parts when OEM parts are unavailable/no longer manufactured.
  • 2.5 Game Conditions:
  • 2.5.1 Games listed as “With Manual” come complete with box, artwork, and manuals/inserts. Other conditions will be as stated in the product title. Games listed as “Boxed” did not come with manuals at original release.
  • 2.5.2 Downloadable Content (DLC) and/or Product/Claim Codes are not included with our games. This includes “With Manual” listings referenced in 2.5.1.
  • 2.5.3 Our games are cleaned, resurfaced (where necessary), and thoroughly tested. There may be discrepancies beyond our reasonable control where compatibility issues arise (I.E, a weaker console laser). These games are covered by our standard returns (see section 4).
  • 2.5.4 Our games are in used (second-hand) condition.
  • 2.5.5 Game boxes/cases might have minor damage, such as chips, cracks, broken hinges, or faded artwork.
  • 2.6 Accessory and Figure Conditions:
    • 2.6.1 Accessories might display slight marks, minor chips, or dents due to age and use. However, these items will function as intended.
    • 2.6.2 Items with wear and tear beyond the norm will be detailed on the product page, along with accompanying photos.

3. Disc Repair Service

  • 3.1 We do not accept Blu-Ray or GameCube discs for disc repair. Blu-Ray discs include (but are not limited to) Nintendo Wii U, Sony PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One & Xbox Series (S/X) discs.
  • 3.2 Disc turnaround time is typically 3 working days; though busy periods may increase this time.
  • 3.3 The Console Cove is not liable for unrecoverable discs. Disc repair is not guaranteed to work.
  • 3.4 Our standard postage will only cover a maximum combined value of £20 if damaged during transit.
  • 3.5 Disc repair does not guarantee a flawless finish; it is very likely some scratches/blemishes will remain after repair.. The Console Cove balances appearance and functionality as best as possible.
  • 3.6 You’ll have 7 days to post your discs from the date you receive the returns label. Orders after this time will be cancelled and converted into store credit on your account. 
  • 3.7 Disc repair is a non-refundable service.
  • 3.8 Disc repair covers the UK mainland only.

4. Returns and Refunds

  • 4.1 Purchases from theconsolecove.co.uk are eligible for return under the following conditions:
    • 4.1.1 You have 14 days from the day after delivery to initiate a return request. You’ll then have 14 days from this date to return the order.
    • 4.1.2 We currently do not offer partial returns; all items in an order will need returning if returning under 14 day distance selling.
    • 4.1.3 Returned items must be in their original condition and packaging. 
  • 4.2 Refunds will include any postage cost paid at checkout.
  • 4.3 Return postage costs are not covered by The Console Cove. 
  • 4.4 Sealed products (listed as either “New” or “Sealed”) must be returned in the condition they were sold. In the event a sealed product is returned and opened we reserve the right to partial refund to the standard “used” value.
  • 4.5 It is your responsibility to ensure items arrive back safely. The Console Cove is not liable for any damage to parcels/items being returned to us.
  • 4.6 Warranty void stickers (where applicable) must be present and intact for returns and refunds.
  • 4.7 We reserve the right to deduct money from refunds for products returned to us damaged.
  • 4.8 Refunds can take up to 28 days to process and complete, depending on your card issuer.

5. Selling to Us (Trade-in & Recycling)

  • 5.1 All Trade-Ins Are Final.
  • 5.2 We reserve the right to refuse to buy anything for any reason.
  • 5.3 We reserve the right to limit the amount of multiple, same item trade-ins.
  • 5.4 We are not responsible for the loss of data due to trade-in.
  • 5.5 Once you sell your Products to us, the ownership will be transferred to us. You also warrant that you are the rightful and legitimate owner of the product or have been authorised to sell the product and that the product is free from any encumbrances or third party claims. In case the Products are later found out to be stolen, or encumbered and/or fake, we reserve the right to pursue legal remedy (both civil and criminal) against you.
  • 5.6 We Cannot Accept:
    • Items with strong odours
    • Items damaged by fire or smoke
    • Items damaged by water, moisture, or mould
    • Items with severe stains
    • Incomplete items, except for specific trade-in conditions
      (IE, “No Manual” Games)
    • Items damaged by pets or showing signs of chewing
    • Items excessively soiled or dirty
    • Items in damaged condition
  • 5.7 All items must align with the chosen condition indicated during the trade-in quote. 
  • 5.8 Boxed items must be in good condition with no excessive wear to be deemed as boxed. 
  • 5.9 We reserve the right to adjust the trade-in price on any item where the condition is unacceptable.
    Two examples include (but not limited to):
    – A boxed item adjusted to unboxed due to excessive wear.
    – A complete game adjusted to no manual due to the manual being ripped.
  • 5.10 Boxed items must include all inserts and manuals, as would’ve been found from “at new” purchase.
  • 5.11 Games Not Accepted:
  • Artwork/boxes with tears. These items should be traded in for the “Unboxed” price if applicable.
  • Games that are not playable in English, unless the product listing specifically states this. 
  • AUS, JP & NTSC copies of games, unless the product listing specifically states this.
  • Manuals/inserts with tears. These items should be traded in for the “No Manual” price.
  • Ex-rental copies
  • Missing, loose, or torn pages
  • Missing or incorrect discs
  • Copied or pirated games (including reproduction cartridges)
  • Discs with cracks, deep/excessive scratches, or warping (i.e., not sitting flush on a flat surface)
  • Cracked/damaged cases. These items should be traded in for the “Unboxed” price.
  • Excessively worn or badly conditioned boxes. These items should be traded in for the “Unboxed” price.
  • Unboxed discs requiring serial codes/numbers.
  • 5.12 Consoles Not Accepted:
  • Non-functioning consoles
  • Broken or damaged shells
  • Handheld consoles with “gameplay-interrupting” screen scratches
  • Missing parts
  • Consoles with excessive dirtiness
  • Consoles missing OEM warranty stickers (where applicable)
  • Boxed console boxes need to match the model of the console.
  • 5.13 Accessories and Figures Not Accepted:
  • Non-functional accessories
  • Broken or damaged accessories
  • Missing parts
  • Excessively dirty items
  • Items showing signs of battery leakage and/or corrosion
  • 5.14 We do not cover the return cost of items that fail our quality control or do not match the condition in the provided quote.
  • 5.15 The trade-in return fee will be deducted from your final trade-in amount if you choose this option on trade-in checkout.
  • 5.16 All trade-in’s must be initiated from UK mainland, using a UK mainland address. We are unable to process international trade-ins.

6. Shipping

  • 6.1 Orders are usually dispatched the next working day. A working day is deemed as Monday to Friday, unless this is a bank holiday or public holiday.
  • 6.2 Dispatch/delivery times are a guideline and are not guaranteed.
  • 6.3 The Console Cove accepts no responsibility for items lost due to incorrect shipping information entered at checkout.
  • 6.4 We reserve the right to change delivery providers when required.
  • 6.5 Free Shipping promotions are applicable to UK mainland orders only.
  • 6.6 We will hold any items returned to us due to failed delivery attempts until instructed further for a maximum of one year.
  • 6.7 Return to Sender (RTS) orders will incur a 5% restocking fee if refunded. We do not refund the original delivery cost in these instances.
  • 6.8 Free Royal Mail delivery applies to all items within size/weight restrictions of Royal Mail parcels. Free delivery will use Royal Mail 2nd class. Oversized orders will use a different courier (chosen after packing).

7. Store Credit / Gift Cards

  • 7.1 Store credit is valid for 2 years from the date of issue/purchase.
  • 7.2 Credit cannot be combined with other promotions or discounts.
  • 7.3 Credit cannot be used to cover shipping/postage costs.
  • 7.4 Credit holds no cash value and cannot be transferred.

8. Warranty & Faults

8.1 Faulty Goods:

  • 8.1.1 All returned goods need to be tested and the fault verified before any refund, repair or replacement can be issued. In the event of No Fault Found, items will be posted back to you.
  • 8.1.2 If an item sold by us is found to be faulty or develops a fault within the first 30 days of sale we will refund the original value and via the same payment method once the item has been returned back to us.
  • 8.1.3 If an item develops a fault after 30 days and within 6 months of sale, the defective item will be fully tested to verify the fault. We will then repair or replace the product if the product is found defective, otherwise it will be dispatched back to you (no fault found). If you have already had a repair/replacement that has become faulty again, the refund processed would be to the original value as per the Terms of Use. If a refund is done within 6 months of the original purchase it will be to the original amount paid.

8.2 Warranty:

  • 8.2.1 Our warranty covers your purchases for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase. This warranty is for malfunction and electronics that stop working of their own accord sold by us.
  • 8.2.2 Warranty does not cover:
    • Liquid Damage
    • Drops and Knocks
    • Malicious Handling
    • Attempts of Opening/Self-Repair
    • Modding
    • Customisations (e.g., painting)
    • Cosmetic Flaws/Imperfections
    • Controller Stick Drift
    • Unreadable Discs caused by Scratches
    • Items damaged during transit. 
    • Where applicable, items where warranty void stickers have been removed. We use a combination of in-house photos, serial numbers and warranty void stickers to identify devices.
  • 8.2.3 Upon acceptance of your claim, we will proceed with one of the following steps:

Free Repair Attempt: Our first course of action will be to attempt a free repair of your device to resolve the issue. If this is not feasible, applicable, or economical, we will proceed to the next step.

Exchange Like for Like: If a repair is not possible or practical, we will provide an exchange for a like-for-like replacement of the faulty item. In cases where a suitable replacement is unavailable, or the issue persists, we will move to the final step.

Credit to Your Account: In situations where repair or exchange is not achievable, we will credit your account with the current or original purchase price of the faulty product (the lower of the two amounts). This credit applies solely to the defective item and does not encompass add-ons, accessories, parts, or postage purchased concurrently.

  • 8.2.4 Warranty on an exchanged or repaired device (including devices purchased with credit in 8.2.3) will last for three months or until your original warranty expires (whichever is greater).
  • 8.2.5 We do not cover return postage for warranty claims.
  • 8.2.6 You are responsible for securely packaging the item for its return. Should any damage occur during the return transit, it is your responsibility to address the matter with the relevant courier service used.

9. Coupons

“Coupons”, “Codes”, “Discount Codes”

  • 9.1 Coupons cannot be used in conjunction with each other.
  • 9.2 We reserve the right to amend and/or withdraw discount codes/coupons at any time without prior notice.
  • 9.3 Coupons are limited to 1 use per household.
  • 9.4 Minimum spend may apply. Please see the checkout page for details.

10. Age Restrictions

  • 10.1 The Customer placing orders or making purchases, confirms that he/she is of the appropriate age to receive and view the specified certification of the title(s) of the Product he/she has ordered/purchased.
  • 10.2 Any Customer ordering or purchasing a Product for or on behalf of a third person shall need to make sure that the intended recipient of the order is of the appropriate age to receive and view the specified certification of the title(s) he/she has ordered/purchased.
  • 10.3 If you are under 13, you may use the website only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.
  • 10.4 We reserve the right to refuse service, terminate accounts, remove or edit content, or cancel orders in their sole discretion if not accompanied by a parent or guardian.
